These 4 wheelers do all I need to dance, spin, and yuck it up on the rink. What a great pair of skates!! These are the first speed skate I’ve ever tried and they are soooo comfy!! I just love these! Sure-grip makes an awesome skate and great accessories anyway which is why I choose this one and I liked that the shoe is leather. Though it’s hard to tell really. Hopefully it will last a long time. The wheels that came with them are pretty good as is and I used them with great satisfaction but did change the them to a hybrid so I could take them outside if I wanted to. I’ll probably switch them back and forth to go to the rink though. I really liked the wider wheels, very stable. If you’ve never been on speed skates before there is a short learning curve to overcome. You’re ankles aren’t supported at all and it’s a weird feeling at first. It’s great now and I love the freedom of not having the tall boot constricting my ankles. These are a great skate for beginners to start with. The price is reasonable for a skate that’s going to last you a long, long time and can take a real beating. There is lots of cushioning in the tongue and around the ankles so they feel great! Women order one size down and you’ll be fine. These aren’t super wide so it fits a woman’s foot pretty well. I did put an insole in mine for some arch support. Don’t know If they would be narrow for a guy though. I also had to change out the toe stop from the black it comes with to something else for my local rink. But Sure Grip makes those too! Great skate at a great price that’s going to last you a long time!I’ve been skating for 20+ years. Just recently got my kids into it. I always wanted another pair of nice skates - these are fantastic. This was my excuse to finally buy a pair! Leather, stitched on upper, solid wheels/bearings. Comfortable from the moment I put them on.I have a love/hate with these skates. Firstly, these were my first derby skates ever. They got me through boot camp/assessments/and practices leading up to my first drafted season & Bout.Very quickly, I realized how many upgrades these skates actually need. There are other derby sites that offer the Sure Grip Rebel Avengers: GET THOSE. They'll last you likely a few seasons, but if you're not sure if you'll last in derby, get these if money isn't an issue. This model is a decent package for beginners. LOOK UP WHAT THE WHEEL COLORS DUROMETERS STAND FOR IN THE DESCRIPTION!!! Omg, I specified pink in my ordering because I like the color and had no idea the color of the wheels actually meant something!! The pink Sure Grip Fugitive wheels are 93a durometer-the perfect hardness for my indoor rink sport court flooring-I lucked out! If you're a freshie & you don't understand durometers yet; ask a veteran skater what durometer wheels go good with your flooring where you skate & order accordingly! This is a great leather boot that is stitched & not glued. It will eventually shape to your foot. It also has a lot of padding like a skate shoe. The plates are plastic & are not recommended for skaters over 180lbs+. Just a derby fact to take into account, that's an upgrade to metal plates you'll need to make so you don't unfortunately crack your plates accidentally. Toe stops definitely need an upgrade. These skates desperately need a separate toe protector. After 2 Fresh Meat practiced, the leather on my toes were already wearing & extreamly scuffed.I've upgraded my wheels as well, but still enjoy the Fugitives that these skates come with. In total, I've probably put $300 in upgrades into these skates to make them legit for my season & skate style when I should have just bought proper customized derby skates to begin with knowing it's sport I was going to be into. These are not bad for fresh meat-better than the popular R3s because their real leather boots (not cheap vinyl that won't hold up to the sport). However, this isn't high quality leather. These skates are now my outdoor skates & great for that purpose as junker skates.Overall: decent cheap package, expect upgrades or new skates entirely eventually!-WhorchataMy son really likes the look if these skates and says they are comfortable. However, he has only had them a month (worn 4 times), and the black vinyl at the front of the foot is already peeling away. For $200 I would expect better quality. These rollerskates are awesome! I highly recommend sure-grip rollerskates. Soft leather uppers, smith bearings and wheels! So I just wrote a review for the first pair of skates I bought for my fresh meat practice, and that was the riedell r3. Im so thankful I continued to do my research and returned those skates for a pair of these sure grip rebels. The sure-grip leather boot is 1000 times more comfortable. The wheels 1000 times better. My fellow fresh meat buddy who had been skating on her riedell r3 with the stock Caymen wheels showed me her wheels after practice and they had all the dirt and gunk from the track caked on. I looked at my fugitive wheels and it was like seeing day and night. No gunk, no dirt, no dead skin cells clinging on.Also, the sure grip rebels are much more comfortable for wide feet. Riedell r3 were so narrow and stiff. I had read their description that said because they're not leather, they're comfortable right out of the box. Lies! The sure grip rebels were comfortable right out the box! And they're made of leather. And I didn't need to pay more to upgrade the wheels and bearrings because they're already pretty good. The only thing I did was get new wax laces and new toe stops. Both brands are practically the same price except you won't need to pay extra for a better set of wheels with sure-grip (unless u really wanted to, not necessary unlike with the riedell r3.)Those skates have helped as I learned to skate, do crossovers, do transitions, work on my edging, work on my plow stops, accomplish t- stops and transitions and Mohawk stops. Also another little tip for beginners I wish someone had told me sooner: loosen the nut on your trucks. They will help your turns and crossovers and everything else. This seller is awesome and has awesome costumer service. Would definitely reccomend to all the fresh meaties when it's time for the next tryouts.
